چکیده

In their recent work Cooper and Ponec [Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2008, 10, 13191329] proposed a “one-electron approximation to domain-averaged Fermi hole (DAFH)” used in electronic population studies. The goal of this comment is to note that the proposal had been already published within the framework of domain-restricted reduced density matrices (Ω-RDM) and to show that it cannot conceptually be considered as an approximation to DAFH as the authors invoke.

Electron pairing and chemical bonds: Pair localization in ELF domains from the analysis of domain averaged Fermi holes

This article reports the application of a recently proposed formalism of domain averaged Fermi holes to the problem of the localization of electron pairs in electron localization function (ELF) domains and its possible implications for the electron pair model of chemical bond. The main focus was on the systems, such as H2O or N2, in which the "unphysical" population of ELF domains makes the par...

A one-electron approximation to domain-averaged Fermi hole analysis.

In general, full domain-averaged Fermi hole (DAFH) analysis for correlated wavefunctions requires explicit use of the correlated pair density, but such a quantity is not always readily available. We propose instead a simple one-electron approximation, which we call pseudo-DAFH or pDAFH, and which requires instead only the natural orbitals (and their occupation numbers). From comparisons of the ...

Molecular Quantum Similarity Measures from Fermi Hole Densities: Modeling Hammett Sigma Constants

A new approach, based on the use of fragment Quantum Self-Similarity Measures (MQS-SM) as descriptors of electronic substituent effect in aromatic series, was proposed. The novelty of this approach consists of the fact that the corresponding MQS-SM are not derived, as usual, from ordinary density functions (DF) but from the so-called domain averaged Fermi holes. This approach was applied to the...

Uniaxial Buckling Analysis Comparison of Nanoplate and Nanocomposite Plate with Central Square Cut out Using Domain Decomposition Method

A comparison of the buckling analysis of the nanoplate and nanocomposite plate with a central square hole embedded in the Winkler foundation is presented in this article. In order to enhance the mechanical properties of the nanoplate with a central cutout, the uniformly distributed carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are applied through the thickness direction. In order to define the shape function of the ...

Fermi surface of NaxCoO2.

Doping evolution of the Fermi surface topology of Na(x)CoO(2) is studied systematically. Both local density approximation (LDA) and local spin density approximation (LSDA) predict a large Fermi surface as well as small hole pockets for doping levels x approximately 0.5. In contrast, the hole pockets are completely absent for all doping levels within LSDA+U. More importantly, we find no violatio...
